Phuan festival bolsters Lao-Thai friendship
The annual Phuan ethnic community festival in Thailand has significantly contributed to maintaining and strengthening the friendship between Laos and Thailand along with conserving the traditions of the ethnic group. Lao Ambassador to Thailand Mr Li Bounkham made the remarks as he joined Nan province Governor Mr Paisal Wimonrat, local authorities and residents, and around 3,000 Phuan people from 23 provinces of Thailand at this year’s 59th festival. The event took place on February 16 at Ban Lab Muen Phruan School in Chom Chan sub-district, Wiang Sa district, Nan province. Phuan communities in Thailand originated from Xieng Khuang province more than 1,100 years ago, and relocated around 400 years ago.
